The Personal Training Collective Conference is like no other conference you’ve ever been to:
  • Designed for Personal Trainers - It’s just for professionals that work one-on-one with clients and do small group training, no step classes here (although we do enjoy a good step class). 
  • Skills you can use tomorrow - The whole event is designed to maximize your learning, understanding, retention and implementation (yeah, on of our founders has her Master's degree in Adult Education). After all, what good is a conference if you can't implement what you've learned right away. 
  • Lots of Personal Attention - We keep our event small so you can actually get to know your fellow colleagues and have opportunities to ask our presenters questions, no 300 person ballrooms for you.

Friday February 23rd 
Some Assembly Required - Brian Justin
In this workshop Brian will take the participants through assembling a Functional Fitness assessment for the beginning Client. There are so many assessments, which ones are the key ones? By the end of the workshop you will have a ready to go assessment for Monday morning that you can program from and track improvements. 
The Case for Customized Nutrition - Michal Ofer
There’s a reason why no one seems to agree on the best “diet” for our clients, it’s because they’re all incredibly unique. The only way to truly know what will fuel your client the best is to figure it out, one client at a time. In this session Michal will walk you through some of the common symptoms that you might physically see in a client that serve as a warning sign that something in their diet might need to change. Then she will show you how, as a Personal Trainer, you can help your clients figure out what’s not working and what to change (all while staying within your scope of practice).
The Struggling Client: The hidden impact of traumatic life experiences and how Personal Trainers can empower clients to thrive - Laura Loudon
There’s nothing worse as a trainer than to feel like you’ve failed a client. That despite your best efforts you just couldn’t figure out how to help them. You may have even thought “what’s wrong with them?”… Instead we’ll ask you to consider “what’s happened to them?”

76% of Canadian adults report some form of trauma exposure in their lifetime. An individual’s response to trauma is unique and life altering both in negative and positive ways. The shame and stigma that can accompany trauma can lead to destructive behaviours and a higher risk of chronic disease. Under the right conditions, adverse experiences can also lead to unforeseen and immensely positive personal growth. In this session we’ll explore the impact of trauma and how it might be presenting itself in your clients’ struggles with lasting health changes. Finally, we’ll give you evidence-based strategies to create the optimal environment for ALL your clients to build resilience and thrive.
Functional Biomechanics for Strength Training - Brian Justin
This workshop will expand your exercise toolbox. You will learn 10 ways to modify exercises for an endless array of individualized movements for your clients and be introduced to the chain reactions that occur in the body with simple biomechanical alterations.

Your Desires: A New Metric for Success - Brenda Adams
How do you measure your success? Is it by the number of clients you have, the number of sessions you book each week? The number of people registered in your next group program? While all of these are crucial to the bottom-line of your business, they often leave us feeling like something is missing.

Join Brenda and learn how your desires are just as important to your success as the cold, hard cash in your bank. Everything that we work towards is an attempt to feel a certain way in our life. Ignore that, and it doesn’t matter what you do, what you achieve or how much money you make, it won’t be enough. It will never be enough.
Training and nutritional considerations for women living with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) - Laura Loudon and Michal Ofer
If you work with female clients chances are more than one of them is living with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) a common hormonal condition that affects 6-10% of women. Common symptoms include infrequent or irregular periods, trouble getting pregnant, weight gain or obesity, insulin resistance, acne, fatigue, anxiety and depression, just to name a few.  

Each woman with PCOS is unique in what symptoms she experiences and the underlying hormonal dysregulation she presents with. Diet and exercise is a first line treatment for PCOS but many women find themselves struggling to find strategies that work for them or find health professionals who can truly understand and support them. This session, co-presented by a Certified Exercise Physiologist with lived experience with PCOS and a Functional Nutritionist with advanced training in hormone dysfunction, will provide you with a thorough understanding of the condition and provide you with effective exercise and nutrition strategies to help your clients achieve lasting success.
Get Clear, Get Organized, Get Profitable - Isabelle Mercier
Feeling overwhelmed, overworked and undervalued is often a sign of not having a “genius based business architecture” in place in your business.  

In this session, you will learn the 8 key systems you need to master to have a business and a brand that is built to ROCK!. You’ll also have the opportunity to create and implement System #1 –Your Pre-Qualifying System; which will allow you to save time AND attract your ideal clients so you can get paid what you are worth. This session is hands-on and you will leave with a concrete time-saving system to put into practice.
 
World Cafe 
This is our chance to harness to brilliance of all the grey matter in the room! In this session you will have the unique opportunity to explore a variety of hot topics, share your insights and hear insights from our presenters and other conference delegates. After the conference we will collate all the brilliance and share it back with all of you.
